Does your business need new reviews every week?

Once your business has a few dozen reviews on Google, you may start to feel comfortable that your company is in the clear. However, it is important to keep in mind that consumers do pay attention to how frequently a business is reviewed, as well as the last time one was posted.

Accumulating a large number of reviews is a great goal, but they will do much less for you if they are all too old. According to the statistics, 86% of consumers look at reviews from the past 3 months, while 73% say reviews must be from the last month (Source: Brightlocal.com). This in mind, you need to constantly be receiving new reviews, and constantly keep up your efforts (by continuing to ask for reviews) so that your reputation will remain strong.

If you also consider that the average consumer reads 10 reviews before trusting a business (Source: Brightlocal.com), you can understand why you can’t ease up on your efforts at any point. Combining these statistics would give you a great goal to keep for yourself: maintain a minimum of 10 reviews for your business that are posted within the last 3 months (but the more recent the reviews, the better).

Older reviews aren’t worthless by any means though, as they still establish a sort of foundation for your business. Just don’t forget that aging reviews alone won’t be enough to keep you afloat in the online world.
